Discussion
Hello Friends!
We are so excited to see you again after so long apart! It feels like forever since we have seen these sweet kiddos. The world is a bit strange right now, and the classroom will look and operate a bit differently. We encourage you to talk to your child(ren) about some of the changes that have happened to help prepare them, and we will be taking a lot of time to discuss the changes at school:
1. Many toys have been removed from the classroom to eliminate exposure and the spread of germs. We will also require that kids not bring toys or other unnecessary items from home for the same reason. We know kids love to bring things to share, but this will have to wait for now. 2. Teachers will be wearing masks. This may be strange, confusing, and possibly even a bit scary for some kids. We want to discuss the safety reasons for the masks, and how we can still show emotions and feelings while wearing them. In addition, we will be trying to teach and encourage social distancing within the classroom. 3. There will be some new class rules and routines that will take some effort for all of us to get used to. Toys will be used on a one-touch, one-child per day basis. We will show our kids where to put "used" toys and books after each use so that they can be sanitized for the next day. We usually practice the "sharing is caring" philosophy, however this will have to be put on hold for now. Now it will be more like... "Hands to yourself, for your health!"
Attached is a sheet with our "new" class rules that we encourage you to read over and discuss with your children. They can color on the page!
Also, we will continue to update the YWCA PreK website as a resource to keep you involved and up-to-date. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
All the best, Your Pre-K Teachers at YWCA Pre-K
